[Whatever Hux intends, Maketh is prepared. Either it's a trap and he's going to attempt killing her, or he's bringing alcohol. The odds are evenly split.
She keeps her pistol close, just in case.
The knock on her door comes promptly. Maketh opens it with narrowed eyes.]
[He took his coat off, folding it and the blanket he had held the cat in neatly before setting them aside. He had been in her apartment before so he only glanced around as he sat on one of the living room chairs.]
Being killed by a housecat would be an embarrassing way to die, wouldn't it?
[She goes and sets out glasses, since apparently they're being proper about this. The cat follows her, tail in the air, and studiously pretending its full attention is on the floor and not her boots. Maketh isn't certain it actually has eyes.
Stars above. What has she signed up for?]
Less embarrassing than getting offed by a loth-cat.
[She pours the whiskey, considering.]
Marginally. I think this thing might actually be capable of killing something bigger than itself.
[Maketh laughs just a little, pouring the whiskey. The cat is watching her and making a great effort in seeming to be doing anything but watching her. It's mouths click and sigh. She probably ought to be disturbed by that.] We had a group of them on our farm, when I was a child. My father tried to tame them. Occasionally they were friendly. But I've seen them take out storm troopers, if you can believe that.
I believe that. I doubt Imperial stormtroopers were trained to handle loth-cats.
[He took one of the glasses without hesitation. He doubted it was poison, they were still both useful to each other alive.]
Arkanis has sea monsters that would eat an entire nerf- or anything else that ventured close to the beach- in a single bite- in comparison loth-cats would be a welcome change from that.
[Though Maketh's men had never been precisely good at their jobs. She sighs and drinks.]
I thought oceans were a myth, when I was younger. They always seemed -- I don't know. Too much, to be real. Though I have seen loth-cats take down sentry droids, if you can believe that.
[Maketh grins. She can laugh about it now, though at the time she's been furious at the expense reports.] Tough little things. Though I suppose this one may prove fierce as well.
[The cat-thing jumps onto the counter. Some of its mouths appear to be sighing.]
[Though, to be fair, she'd given the loth-cats back home names based on military ranks even as a child. The general had been her favorite. She decides not to tell Hux that. No need to let him feel smug.
She watches the cat for a moment. It - he? - has begun batting at the cabinets.]
Kalu. It was the first ship I served on. Not a destroyer.
Why wouldn't I? There are worse things to name cats after.
[It seemed logical and the last thing he wanted was for a cat to end up being named something ridiculous like Mr. Mittens or Fluffy.]
Kalu- I never heard of it. [But the Imperial and Republic fleets had been vast, thousands upon thousands of ships and destroyers so he wasn't exactly surprised by that.]

Can you let me in? This thing has sharp claws.

Date: 2017-06-18 09:08 pm (UTC)What are you doing with it?
no subject
Date: 2017-06-18 09:29 pm (UTC)Giving it to you, obviously. It kept trying to gnaw on Anakin's cat so while Kylo likes having a house of cats, this one was causing trouble.

Date: 2017-06-18 11:28 pm (UTC)And you thought giving it to me was the solution.
[Perhaps he hopes it will kill her. Maketh watches the cat. It has silky black fur and all together too many mouths.]
I see.

Want a drink?

Sure, what do you have?

Whiskey, of course. And some wine. Though I have a feeling I know what you'll prefer.
