It won't be. With a little luck and a lot of elbow grease, it might just be home.

[Maketh smiles at that.] That would be something, wouldn't it?

Yeah. It would.

[He might not be happy about giving Hope any kind of power, but he can't help but feel it.]

But it's not going to happen if we don't work at it. We need to be prepared for whatever the next god who comes back brings to town.

[On that they agree. Maketh nods.] Of course. And if you have any ideas about how to proceed, I would listen to them.

Hm.

[Nick takes another sip from his mug, thinking.]

We should focus on finding and dealing with this 'Mello' character before worrying about any new gods coming in. Hope just brought another one back, so it'll be a while before he's got the power to do it again. That gives us some time to get things under control.

I agree. We can't kill him. [There are various reasons, not all of them due to morals.] But a statement must be made, so the community knows we are united, and strong enough to see our promises through.

[She pauses, considering.]

Perhaps he should be made to serve the community in some way.

That's what I was thinking. Confiscate his phone, since that's what he used to broadcast his plans in the first place. See if we can't get him to agree to community service to get it back. The dam could use an extra hand. Gardens, too.

[Not the clinic, though. Putting him near Kate Galloway is a bad idea.]

[It's not what she'd prefer, but the situation is not ideal. They must work with what they have.]

I've found the simplest solution tends to be the one that works best. Less that can go wrong. The trick is going to be finding and apprehending him.

Mhmm. [Maketh finishes her coffee with a sigh.] He doesn't seem the type to risk the caves, not unless he feels cornered. But I doubt he'll come quietly.

We'll just have to keep an eye out for him, see if we can't sniff him out. He's bound to turn up eventually.

[He finishes his own mug, setting it next to the sink to wash later.]

Thanks for the coffee. Beats what we had back home by a long shot.

True. It is a closed circuit. [Eventually he'll have to come back for supplies, even if he's found himself a hole to wait it out in. Maketh leans back with a smile.] Any time. I mean that.
